3-Aminoa lky l idene-2/ / -pyran-2,4(3 / / ) -d iones (APs) , possessing a conjugated enamino moiety which is common to cyanoacrylates and 2-aminoalkyl idenecyclohexane-l ,3-diones (ACs ) , were found as a new class of photosynthetic electron transport inhibi tors. A l though the structural requi rement of APs for photosynthetic electron transport inhib i t ion was very similar to that of cyanoacrylates and ACs , thermoluminescence measurements indicated that the binding manner of APs to D 1 prote in was total ly dif ferent f rom that of other inhibi tors.
